Luke 14:12-24

Food and feasting often contribute to the formation of lasting memories.  Jesus’ parable today highlights a great banquet, foreshadowing the great marriage supper of the Lamb that all who are in Christ will enjoy in his coming kingdom.  Our lives, like the great feast set before us by God himself, ought to be marked by great joy, by urgency as we realize that it cost God the life of his Son, and by grace as we recognize that we are unworthy recipients of God’s goodness to us.
