Rivals and Rebellion
2 Samuel 2:1-32
Through these challenging sections of scripture, we see the providential hand of God leading his people from Saul’s son Ish-Bosheth (the man of shame) toward David (the man after God’s own heart). We must tune into the civil, holy war for our hearts and affections. Both corporately (as a local church) as well as individually (in our own hearts), may we be tuned in to how the enemy of our souls would seek to pervert and destroy what the Lord is doing to build his church. As always, the solution is to turn towards the shoot from the stump of Jesse, King Jesus, who will heal the rebellion of his people.
