1 Samuel 20:1-42

In life, our attention is naturally drawn to situations in which the stakes are high and there’s no guarantee of security.  In reality, our spiritual life is much more of a life and death situation than anything else that might compete for our attention.  Through the covenant bond of hesed steadfast love between David and Jonathan in a high stakes situation, we see beautifully illustrated for us the far greater reality of God’s covenant commitment to us, his children, to complete what he has started in us and bring us into his shalom.
