Mark 7:1-23 At times it can be easy to get distracted by human traditions and lose sight of the core of what it means to follow Jesus. While traditions and church history have much to teach us, they are always subservient to the Scriptures. Jesus makes it abundantly clear in today’s text that, far beyond mere external compliance to the law of God, he is much more concerned that his disciples have hearts that have been inwardly transformed by the gospel.
