Redemption in Public
Ruth 4:1-12
In the post-enlightenment world, our faith and identity have become very privatized. This was not at all the case throughout the scriptures and the pre-enlightenment church. Today’s passage displays the very public and communal redemption of Ruth by Boaz. By doing so, he points toward our greater Redeemer Jesus who redeems his people publicly and corporately. This illustrates the truth that we who are in Christ have been redeemed into a body, by a body and for a body.
