Dusty Offspring

Genesis 13:1-18

Deep within each of us lies a longing for a perfect homeland.  If we’re impatient, we’ll be tempted to snatch at it, to try to make things happen apart from God’s purposes.  Lot demonstrated this attitude through his actions in today’s text.  In distinct contrast, Abram allows Yahweh to lift up his eyes to see his revealed promises, and he builds an altar to God in faith.  How much more shall we, who are living on this side of Christ’s finished work, be able to look with the eyes of faith as we wait for our eternal homeland.
