1 Samuel 17:1-58

The encounter between David and Goliath is one of theological and cosmic significance, addressing the issue of whose god will rule. Rather than focus on the physical attributes of this epic battle, we find even more meaning in the words spoken by David — words of cursing for Yahweh’s enemies and words of blessing toward his covenant people. We worship the true hero of the story, King David’s greater son, the Lord Jesus.
