A Saving Death
Luke 23:32-39
Jesus’ death presented a problem within the Jewish context of his day: he was not the conquering Messiah they expected but rather a crucified one. What might be foolishness or a stumbling block for some is a saving death for anyone who acknowledges Jesus as king and savior. As Jesus’ crucifixion deals a mortal head wound to Satan, he calls us to live a cruciform life of humility, not mockery and derision.
