2 Samuel 4:1-12

Hands play a prominent role in today’s text.  The weak hands of a declining Ish-bosheth and a lame Mephibosheth remind us that because of sin, we are not sufficient in and of ourselves.  The bloody hands of Rechab and Baanah demonstrate their sinful intent as they pursue plans outside of Yahweh’s purposes.  The strong hands of King David in executing Yahweh’s true purposes point toward King David’s greater son, King Jesus, who delivers us with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm.
