—Congregational Meeting Results
Here is the email sent from our clerk earlier this week with the results our our congregational meeting:

The congregation of Mercy Church adopts the following recommendation from the Property Committee regarding Rock Family Church (RFC), with the provisions following:

The property committee recommends to the congregation that we proceed with the intent to purchase, offering the recently appraised value of $1,070,000 and with the authority to negotiate up to a price of $1,093,000.  Additionally we recommend purchasing from RFC, the furniture, sound system and sound panels (total of $17,820).  We make this recommendation acknowledging that this is a stretch for Mercy Church’s current budget and giving levels, however we recognize the unique opportunity, favorable financing conditions and the opportunity for growth that this presents.
This approval to purchase RFC is made under the terms of the legal documents available to the congregation as of July 31, 2026, AND the addition to those legal documents of an assurance that the church can make advance payments, effectively buying a 90-day window for payment.
The Trustees, together with the Session, shall have the authority to approve the final language of these changes, as well as other minor changes to the legal agreement in order to effect the sale, and to determine whether any such changes are “substantive”.
Substantive changes to the legal agreement will require re-approval by the congregation.

There were 56 communicant members present at the meeting (60.2% of the total membership).  The final vote on this motion was 51-Yes, 3-No (94%), with two abstentions.  We rejoice greatly in God’s clear direction in this matter!

Now that the decision has been made, let us remember the words of the Apostle Paul to the Phillipians as we move forward together:

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.  Philippians 2:1–4 (ESV)
